Tween Yoga (Jeanne Murtha)
Yoga means union of mind, body and spirit. In our yoga sessions students will work and play with yoga poses (asana), breathing techniques, meditations and affirmations to develop a deeper union within themselves and with each other in conjunction with other disciplines, like music, literature, science etc. to meet varying learning styles. Each session has a theme that relates to nature, a specific body part, yogic quality or particular group interest. Yoga offers older kids an opportunity to look inward and develop themselves with out the usual pressures of competitiveness. Tweens will focus on developing an awareness of physical sensations in their bodies and learn to objectively observe their thoughts and feelings while increasing their flexibility and strength, bringing a sense of inner peace and well being.
